Weeding Wednesday

, November 13, to weed the newer garden of irises
Arrive at 7:30 A.M. and work until 10 A.M. Since the garden opens at 9 A.M., someone
will open the gate. You should bring a hat, gloves, and anything that you need to weed. Water will be provided. Do not drink from the water system in the garden.

2016 AIS Region 17 Convention
The Waco Iris Society hosted Deep in the Heart of Texas, the 2016 AIS Region 17 Convention.

Thirteen Iris Society of Austin members attended.

2016 AIS National Convention in Newark, NJ, May 23-28

Region 17 gains a new affiliate society
RVP Dawn Boyer has informed us about the recent formation of the East Texas Iris Society with Connie Ford serving as president. This brings the number of affiliates in Texas to 15, moving Region 17 from 4th to 2nd in total membership to AIS. We heartily welcome the East Texas Iris Society.

Special Guest Speaker

We had a very special treat for our February 2013 meeting, which was pushed back a week until Tuesday, February 19. Bob Van Liere, a nationally recognized iris hybridizer from Denver, Colorado, was in Austin that day, and he presented an outstanding program to our club.
